Our story
Who we are
For more than 30 years, our library has promoted Polish culture, language, and community life in the Washington, D.C. area, operating in close cooperation with the Embassy of Poland. Our work is carried out entirely by volunteers, and our activities are funded through membership contributions and gifts. In addition to maintaining our collection, we host author talks, discussion groups, a film club, and projects that support Polish language learning and bring the Polish community together, including our annual Christmas caroling event and the Library Picnic. We also participate in EU Open House presentations, assist with Polish language courses, and run other initiatives that celebrate Polish culture and deepen understanding of Poland.
Our mission
Our mission is to promote Polish culture and literature to a wide audience in the Washington, D.C. area and to integrate the local Polish community. We hold more than 7,000 books in Polish, as well as books about Poland in English, along with several hundred films created by Polish cinematographers.”
